  • Anne Curtis’ Engagement: 3 Mysteries That Need Solving

Deprecated: trim(): Passing null to parameter #1 ($string) of type string is deprecated in /home/thetop19/public_html/wp-includes/link-template.php on line 3941

So we weren’t supposed to write anything about Anne Curtis’ engagement to Erwan Heussaff.  The internet blew up yesterday when the couple posted their video and that was all anybody was talking about.  Why add to the noise, right?  Besides, we pride ourselves in being anti-It every once in a while.  We can be French like that.

BUT we literally could not sleep last night no matter how many sheep, lambs, rams, and llamas we counted.  Instead, we found ourselves reviewing snippets of the video (shown below) in our mental screens.  And that was how we knew we just had to write about it: because we can’t be the only ones losing sleep over Anne Curtis’ engagement right?  Because it didn’t offer as many answers as it did questions.

3 Mysteries in Anne Curtis’ Engagement Video

We don’t know who we wanna marry more: Erwan, Anne, or that delicious bowl of whatever it is!

1. The Mystery of the Vanishing Plates

With Erwan being the restaurateur and food blogger that he is, no post of his would be complete without the customary food shots.  And there were plenty of those in here.  He even included the full list of the more than 25 restaurants, 4 cafes, and 11 bars they visited on the description of the video (very few of which we can pronounce).  But the big mystery is how they keep in great shape despite all that eating!

We’d like to think it’s because they ate family style.  Don’t tell us it’s exercise, please!  Because there’s nothing like a too-intense workout to make us feel like punching somebody.  Okay, kidding aside, it really must be a healthy lifestyle.  One of the reasons we really admire Erwan and his practically unknown sister Solenn is that they overcame their poor eating and lifestyle habits in their childhood to become as fit as they are today.  It really is possible to eat what you want and look good, people!  Like anything else in life, you just have to be willing to work for it.

100% tired or 100% fab? Anne after the NYC Marathon.

2. The Secret to Looking Good After a Marathon

A quick stalk on Instagram (we’re experts like that) shows that they must have run the New York City Marathon a day or two after Anne Curtis’ engagement to Erwan.  Nothing like the rush of having your paramour propose to you to give you that much-needed adrenaline rush!  After all, the NYC Marathon is more than 42km long.  Yup, you read that right.  They ran for over 26 miles in less than five hours, and still looked like that at the end of it, whereas mere mortals such as ourselves can hardly look that good even with an arsenal of make-up artists and hairdressers.

But how can we hate them when they ran for such a wonderful cause?  Anne dedicated her marathon to the Filipino youth through UNICEF and was able to raise Php 69,070 for the organization.  Trust us, no matter how difficult, we’d be willing to do the same for our beloved countrymen too.  We may not have as much star power as these two, but we believe that every individual can make a difference.  In fact, you can still donate to the cause here!

That sweet moment before she said yes. (We would’ve done the same thing, Anne!)

3. The Riddle of What Was Said (Before and After)

At the end of the video, we realize that it’s not just a diary of their trip and all their time together: it’s actually a revelation of Anne Curtis’ engagement to Erwan!  Obviously, this version has been edited for the public’s viewing pleasure.  But we have since lost our beauty sleep wondering what was on the screen that made Anne’s jaw drop (at 5:50).  That was right before Erwan got down on his knees and, as they both laughed and cried at the same time, made that short but oh so sweet profession:

[clickToTweet tweet=”‘I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life.’ -Erwan to Anne (But what did he say after?!)” quote=”‘I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life.’ -Erwan Heussaff to Anne Curtis”]

Ok so no matter how hard we tried, we couldn’t decipher the rest of it either.  Anybody have a good ear?  We’d love to figure out what else was in the proposal speech!  That would solve at least half of the mystery.  For the first half, your guess is as good as ours: “Will you be the hollandaise to my eggs benedict?”

One thing’s for sure though: Erwan definitely got it right–from the ring, the kneeling (an almost absolute proposal do), right down to the girl.  She’s a keeper!

So there you go, just some of the mysteries in Anne Curtis’ engagement video that had kept us up all night.  If you have any of the answers, especially to #3, we’d love to hear them in the comments section below because we really need our beauty sleep!
