San Sebastian Wedding: A Facebook Love Story (SDE Review)

 October 24, 2017

Brought together through social media, this couple found love unexpectedly until they found themselves vowing to love & cherish each other at a beautiful San Sebastian Wedding.

Our featured couple, Kurt & Alinah’s, story is not one about strangers meeting through facebook. Despite their close proximity to each other being schoolmates in since elementary and living only three blocks away from each other, it took a facebook interaction in their adulthood to take notice of each other’s existence and pave the way for their love story to unfold.

“It all started when Kurt posted photos of his Singapore gala on facebook (he works as an engineer in a tanker ship) and I liked the album being that it was the first time I saw him post photos.”

This one little ‘like’ started a thread of engaging, non-stop messages between the two on Facebook. It began with Kurt teasingly calling Alinah “Ligaya” because of the “Joyce” in her name until it evolved to them leaving long messages to each other.

“Chat was not yet available that time. We would only leave long messages to each other everyday! Since he’s on a different time zone, messages would come in while im asleep and vice versa. I remember looking forward to reading his kwento and even counting the messages we’ve sent to each other!”

This led to their meeting once Kurt’s service contract ended. Though they technically knew of each other since childhood, it was probably as if they saw each with a different perspective from being someone from their past young lives to someone that could potentially be their future.

Working as a seaman, Kurt made the most of his time while he was here to spend time with Alinah. He gave her his pasalubong, went with her to the UP Lantern Parade and surprised her by giving her a dog! He didn’t waste time as well. Aside from the dog which Alinah named Kuki for Kurt King, he had a song and flowers ready for his proposal.

“He asked me out for dinner at Tony’s grill but i insisted to have dinner at Tiendesitas instead so we can buy dog food for Kuki. After dinner, we went back to his car and had the usual conversation.  Then, suddenly, he played You Got Me by Colbie Caillat. He popped the question if I can be his girlfriend and gave me flowers. Then, I said ‘yes’, of course.”

As the saying goes, ‘communication is key in any relationship’. So with Kurt going off to work again as a seaman, they were able to find ways to communicate despite the distance and challenges .

“We would only see each other every after 7 or 8 months back then. If the ship has no internet, he would call me at least once a week. We communicate whatever means are available.”

One of the wonderful pasalubongs Alinah would get from Kurt are the post cards he’d bring with scribbles of sweet nothings on it. These eventually made for lovely details in their San Sebastian Wedding’s same-day video-edit (SDE) as you’ll see here.

“Even the small things really matter to me” – Alinah

For their San Sebastian Wedding, they had these criteria for choosing their videographer:

  1. They do personalized, non-templated videos
  2. They’re able to have a good working relationship with other suppliers, especially the photographer

Their videographer choice, Hello & Co. Cinema, did not disappoint!

“We were very happy to watch it the first time. And after watching it again, we began to notice and appreciate every detail of it. It was always an ‘ahhhhh’ moment for the both of us.”

It’s no surprise then, that Kurt & Alinah’s Top Knotter moment for their San Sebastian Wedding was with their videographer & photographer, Ram Marcelo Photography. For this they pointed out  their their prenup session experience with them.

“We had a schoolmate who had a prenup on the same location where we had ours but Phoebe’s (Hello & Co.)  and Ram’s output are more creative and more appealing to watch.”

Just take a look at their SDE to see why they love it so much.
