Subic Bay Wedding: A Love To Last

 October 4, 2017

How many of us can really say that our love story is, quite literally, a plot for a soap opera? Well, this couple from our Subic Bay Wedding feature, Gerwin & Joy, can raise their hands up high on this one.

“Our love story is non-traditional. It’s close to the Anton-Andeng love story”.

In case you are not famliar, ‘A Love To Last’ is the soap opera that brought Ian Veneracion’s dreamboy status back to the radar of many women. Here, he plays Anton who falls for Andeng, played by the beauteous Bea Alonzo. The situation that Gerwin & Joy were in at the time of their meeting was very similar to that of Anton & Andeng’s. As they met & fell in love, there was a concern of closing with finality a previous relationship that has long ended. Once they knew that all was clear for them to take the leap, they started planning on the big day that will set them to live a life decided to be bound together in a love to last.

Also similar to the teleserye, Gerwin & Joy had less than 3 months to prepare for their Subic Bay wedding. Why less than three months? Well, we can only sumise that it’s because they were both already so sure about their love for each other.

“From the moment we got hold of the cenomar, we started planning for the wedding. Roughly three months of preparation!”

It was no easy feat to plan for a wedding in under three months, specially since both parties are working and have a newborn as well. It can get unnerving, but as Joy shared their experience, we are reminded of how it’s a matter of not losing sight of the reason for tying the knot in the first place.

“We did everything simultaneously.  there were moments when im just tired and just wanted a simple celebration. But my husband wants to have a celebration where we can gather all people dear to us that they can also enjoy our wedding. Yes, it is just a one day event, but that one day event will be remembered forever. We waited for that moment to come for so long, and our path towards our blessing as a couple was not easy.”

For their Subic Bay Wedding, Gerwin & Joy singles out their venue/location, Joy’s gown and their photo-video team for their Top Knotter moment.

One of their best decisions, it seems, is to have their wedding in Subic. They noted it as a ideal place to get married because there’s no traffic and everything you need is within reach. They loved being in the Subic Bay Yacht Club presidential suites for their preps and that the Holy Land Chapel where they had the ceremony was just beside their recpetion venue. Having enough parking space was a plus!

“I cried when I saw my gown finished.  My designer, Rex Nicdao, went beyond my expectations.”

Glitches & mishaps are bound to happened in any event or occasion. Probably adding a bit of suspense for their wedding day, their photo-video team, Niceprint, encountered an engine problem along SCTEX on the way to their hotel. Fortunately, the SCTEX patrol was able to help fix the problem.

“They arrived, I think, around 30-40mins late. But at least, there were no major delays. We didn’t know that Niceprint owner, Jibby Tinio, was on his way also to Subic to rescue the Niceprint team.  The sctex patrol arrived first and Jibby Tinio just went straight to our hotel to check if everything is ok.  I think that is a sweet gesture coming from the owners of Niceprint.”

Good thing the Niceprint team were able to make it in time to capture the wedding preparation details and did not miss the bride & groom walk down the aisle!

If there’s anything Joy said she wished they knew as they prepared for their Subic Bay wedding, it’s these interesting bits of information that other soon-to-weds could take into consideration, specially for destination weddings such as this Subic Bay wedding.

  1. That there are popular Manila-based suppliers that have reasonable rates even for destination weddings; sometimes even lower than some local suppliers.

  2.  There’s  a  need to really go through the details in order to avoid disappointments.

There’s disaster proofing your wedding and then there’s also disaster proofing your marriage. Given the opportunity, who wouldn’t take up that second chance at love? Where there is love, there is patience and hope. Persevering to keep getting up, learning to love unconditionally and choosing to do the right thing for love could make all things work out in the end as it did for Antong & Andeng, and surely for Gerwin & Joy as well.

For Gewin & Joy, this Subic Bay Wedding is just the beginning of their new journey together as husband & wife. And what a beautiful new beginning it is, specially with Joy’s vow to Gerwin saying:

“From this day forward, you will never be alone, my heart will be your shelter and my arms will be your home.”
