Why do we love watching SDEs so much? Hint: it’s not for the eye candy (though that helps). It’s because we get to witness the intimacy and beautiful simplicity of a couple saying “I love you’s” that last forever.
Timing is everything, they say. Fortunately for Mark & Maan, their love endured to overcome a case of wrong timing. In their SDE by Jake Olaso, the beautiful simplicity of their wedding–and love–is crystal clear. Their is a love that has not only helped them endure over time, but also transformed them for the better.
“Mahal kita. Walang pero, walang kasi, walang dahil. With you I have been the most selfless, the most understanding, the most patient that I have ever been. Our love for each other is far greater than all the things that pushed us apart. Totoo pala ang sinasabi nilang ‘Kung kayo, kayo talaga’. If it’s God’s will, it will happen.” – Maan
“Marami na tayong beses sinubok ng pahahon. Umibig, nasaktan sa di tamang panahon, pero hindi ko na palalampasin pa ang pagkakataon na makasama ka sa pang habang panahon.” – Mark
Can you imagine a time when Solenn and Nico didn’t know each other? Yet now they seem perfect together. We’ve dissected their wedding film for signs to recognize YOUR true love. Remember to keep your eyes open because he/she might just be lurking around the corner!
On The Top Knotters, we feature weddings and engagements—so-called success stories in the department of love. But anyone who has ever attempted to get into a relationship or even just had a crush has most likely also felt the soul-crushing effects of heartbreak at least once in their life. It’s all sorts of salt-in-your-wounds, I-can’t-stop-bingeing-on-ice-cream, my-life-has-lost-all-meaning painful! And when it reaches such a low, we start doubting if we will ever find love again or if, indeed, love exists for such imperfect human beings such as ourselves. Enter, Solenn and Nico.
We’ve all seen them pull pranks on, poke fun at, and profess undying love for each other on their Instagrams. So how can we not believe in divine providence when we consider the truth that, ten years ago, Solenn and Nico didn’t even know each other? And now look at them: they’re inseparable! It must be true love. So we’ve taken it upon ourselves to dissect their wedding film (which was as spectacular as can be expected from Jason Magbanua) to discover the secret to recognizing true love when it comes for us, bow and arrow and all.
What happens when you ask professional wedding filmmakers to name their favorite SDE apart from their own? They remind you who the wedding videography greats are!
Last week, we rounded up some established and up-and-coming talents in the Wedding Videography industry to add variety to your Vimeo playlists. (Read the viral article here!) This week, we asked some of these very talents to select their favorite wedding SDE from 2016. The catch? It had to be from someone other than themselves. In the end, it was as if these pros were choosing their bets among the wedding videography greats of the Philippines.
We’re NOT saying this is a definitive list of the best in the business. Art is subjective, we all know that. But we have to admit that the names that popped up on this list didn’t surprise us so much. After all, these filmmakers have been widely considered as wedding videography greats by so many print and online publications, as well as award-giving bodies. Without further ado, we’re listing them here in alphabetical order so you don’t accuse us of playing favorites!
When it comes to wedding videographers to watch, there are so many talents out there! Allow us the privilege of introducing you to seven awesome teams. You’re welcome.
Since January is the season for resolutions, we’ve taken it upon ourselves to add one more to your already long list. We can be bossy like that sometimes. But we promise this will be just as worthwhile as all your new get-fit plans, if not easier to stick to! Here it is: We dare you to take note of these videographers to watch and subscribe to their Youtube and Vimeo channels.
Of course, we’re all familiar with the legends in the field (in alphabetical order, lest they accuse us of favoritism): Jason Magbanua, Mayad, Bob Nicolas, and Threelogy. But even future celebrity bride, Ehra Madrigal, believes that all of the suppliers are talented! It’s really just a matter of personal taste on the part of the bride and groom. So, to help widen your choices, we had a chat with some fresh talents in the videography scene who might not be getting as much exposure as the greats. Read on for our no-longer-secret list of videographers to watch out for this year!
There were lots of great moments in Sean and Karel Marquez’ wedding video by Treehouse Story. But arguably the best parts were when they let their eyes and hearts do the talking.
The exchange of vows is usually one of the more anticipated moments in a wedding—we can’t wait to hear the couple profess their love for one another. But sometimes, it’s the silences, the pauses, and the gaze that lingers which communicate from the deepest recesses of our hearts. Ronan Keating, Alison Krauss, and Keith Whitley have known this all along: ‘you say it best when you say nothing at all’. Though lovely in its own unique way, Sean and Karel Marquez’ wedding is no different.
The year 2016 is shaping up to be the year of the celebrity wedding. Hot on the heels of the nuptials of It girls Solenn, Georgina, and Belle is another gorgeous destination wedding: that of Cristalle Belo Henares’. Cristalle, the eldest daughter of celebrity doctor Vicki Belo and quite the power woman herself, wed Australian hotelier (and almost-Storm Trooper!) Justin Pitt, last September in the famous Lake Como in Italy. After seeing so many weddings this year, we feel like it would take much more to impress us.
But Cristalle Belo is not someone who can easily be outdone. Here are four reasons why her wedding is definitely one for the books.
When news broke out that Maine and Alden were getting married, literally everybody had asked if it was real. Were they actually getting married? Regardless if it’s scripted or not, the AlDub Wedding Highlights (made by Jason Magbanua) prove one thing to be true: love is something we all aspire for. Victor Hugo said so himself: To love or have loved–that is enough.
So here are our favorite moments from the AlDub Wedding Highlights film.
We adore them, not just because of the kilig they bring to our bones, but more so because we believe they contain echoes of the real love that is present in the many weddings and marriages we raise toasts to.
We all love surprises…a birthday party, an expensive gift, or a marriage proposal…these are just a few of the typical surprises anyone can encounter. But a surprise wedding?
Seems impossible, right? Well, not for Darius and Eireen. They were already married, legally with a contract signifying their union in matrimony. But Darius wants to make his wife’s dream of getting married in the church come true. And he didn’t just simply make it happen, he surprised Eireen on her own big day.
Move over, SDE. Wedding Shorts are here to stay.
Weddings have evolved so much that, in the last decade, one of the most highly anticipated segments of the wedding reception is the screening of the Wedding SDE (same day edit). But in recent years, Pre-wedding shorts have also become increasingly popular. These wedding shorts are short films produced prior to the wedding and, when done right, can leave audiences AKA their family and friends either in awe, in tears, or in pain from too much laughing.
Admit it, your love story must be one of your happiest thoughts in the world! So, why not have it immortalized through a pre-wedding film?
Well, that’s exactly what Mickey & Shane did.
When it comes to pre-wedding mementos, pre-nup photos & videos would usually have styled thematic set ups. They would usually use themes, places and scenarios that have some significance for the couple. For some it’s a chance to either dress up differently or capture a representation of what their relationship is like. It’s not often, though, that couples are able to share their love story, narrated through their very own wedding film. In fact, this is the first time I’ve actually encountered a wedding video such as this.
